Dr Ben A M Kauer, Cardiologist
Ben Kauer was born and raised in The Hague (in the neighborhood of the IHCH) in 1947. He graduated from Leiden University Medical School in 1974. After five years of training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology in the Leiden University Medical Centre, he became a cardiologist. From 1979 until 1995, he worked as a clinical cardiologist in one of Holland's largest hospitals, the Medical Spectre Twente in Enschede the last seven of which were spent as Head of Cardiology.
Because his sons were studying in Leiden and Rotterdam, and his roots lie in the west, he decided to moved back to Leiden. From 1995 until 2009 he worked as a clinical cardiologist in the Rijnland Hospital Leiderdorp, a training hospital for cardiologists that works together with the L.U.M.C. Since January of 2009 he has been practicing cardiology on a parttime basis at the International Health Centre The Hague.
